Courtroom Drama and my Faux Pas

We were in court yesterday afternoon to attend my brother’s hearing. It was for the case he filed against the person who compromised my brother’s safety and who took his phone while riding the MRT in November last year. It was a first time my two brothers and me to witness real-life court proceedings (which even made me wonder why I did not think of pursuing law at all!). Let me just say that the experience was interesting. We didn’t hire a lawyer anymore so a Fiscal from the PAO (very accommodating if I may add) represented my brother. The accused did not show up.

However, I committed a social slip – a mistake that only morons commit. It was just a consolation that we were the only ones left in the courtroom and the judge is fatherly & nice. I was caught, while thinking aloud, coaching LBB what to say WHILE he was being cross-examined on the witness stand! I almost died of embarrassment when I had to stand up and explain myself. Idiot.

My brothers, being the alaskadors that they’ve always been, had fun poking at my mistake and you bet this will be a dinner table topic for weeks to come.
