I remember reading about cancer of the society in Dr. Jose Rizal’s Noli and Fili novels. He said that it seems like there is no cure for such a disease. Now his works had basis and sadly, hundreds of years later – today – the society has not healed from this. A couple of days ago, someone declared he’d run for President again. If he wins, when will the Filipinos ever learn? His declaration is still under question, though, legally-wise. And then there’s the hoopla about the undistributed donations for the typhoon victims. When do they plan to give those out? I am not going to write about these further because I maintain that this is an apolitical blog (as is my main blog). I am just saddened about the news. I simply wish that this type of cancer is curable like there is a malignant Mesothelioma treatment for a real cancer.
Then there are news of people I know getting afflicted with the Big C. Some are curable while the future for some looks grim. When before I just shrug my shoulders and say “well, it happens,” now I worry and fear that the disease is getting close to home.
All I can do is pray for this society and for those I know who are sick.
