Kin

The Starbucks Barista gave me a new nickname:

kin

I have different nicknames and every time I buy at Starbucks, I tell the barista that I am Tin. See, I have issues when my names are misspelled (LOL, one of my peeves) so I’d rather say Tin (not pronounced as teen, obviously) than give my given name, second name or even Kaje. And a lot of times, they still get it wrong, like today. Yes, Tin sounds like kin when I say it because that’s how it’s supposed to be, hehe.

Next time, I’ll probably just say K, just the letter k :) Or should I come up with my Starbucks name, instead? Hihi.

Long Day

Even if it is the weekend, I consider it a regular “weekday” or work day since Ane has work on Saturdays and Sundays. I was hoping I could squeeze in some work while little K naps in the afternoon but the ball of energy had other plans. When I tried to make her nap and put aside her books, she threw a tantrum (literally bawling, screaming and kicking!). You know when someone or at least a kid cries and you ask her “What’s wrong? Please calm down,” the crying would get even louder? That was our scenario. I was frustrated I could not make her stop and all I could do was watch and wait it out :( After about an hour (yes that long!), she finally fell asleep, probably out of exhaustion. Poor girl. And by the time she fell asleep, it would be just another hour or so before the Tatay got home.

When K woke up, she probably remembered our little “fight” and was still in a foul mood. She cheered up when she realized we’d be out of the house. Never fails. Imagine, my brothers call her batang layas ! And the neighbors would know when she’s off to somewhere because she’d be too excited she’d scream once she hears the car engine roar!

Anyway, our agenda for the afternoon was to look for clothes and a pair of dress shoes for K we could wear for the awarding ceremonies on Tuesday. If we could, we’d also canvass shower heaters, some cabinets, a bed frame and Saniflo toilet. Don’t ask what these items are for, time will reveal ;) We ran out of time choosing clothes, however so we’ll just save the window shopping for another day. At least we got our loots which are more important as of now.

The rest of the night was spent watching Ane play his badminton games, grabbing late dinner and tucking K to bed.

Yes I am already tired and pooped. I will just do some stuff online and will hit the sack once I’m done. Enjoy the rest of your weekend guys!!

Little Pirate Girl

I found this really cute ensemble online, a pink pirate costume (image is clickable):

Unfortunately, there is no available size for Klaire at this time and we need to place the order today. The box needs to leave the US before August ends if we want the orders to arrive Manila on time. This would have been really nice on K and I felt my heart skipped a beat when I saw this. Nothing else caught my fancy. I guess we’re not meant to buy online? I will try to find a local seamstress who can make something similar, otherwise I’m back to the drawing board.

Mr. Car

We were given the opportunity to use my FIL’s car for about four weeks. Initially, based on the agreement, it is “ours” for just two weeks but got extended somehow. It was fun riding in him (yes, it’s a male and technically nameless as of today) while it lasted though I was too chicken to drive him around. We cannot deny the fact that he isn’t ours and that thought alone made me so nervous to even try cruising with him. Oh well, maybe in time we’ll have our own brand new car. We have a lot of saving up to do since we can’t afford even just Ferrari parts, what more an SUV? LOL!

Smile!

I posted this in my other blog before I slept last night.

My spirit was lifted and I even woke up feeling happy. I loved the morning bed weather and vowed to start my day right. Until we received a text message, and another in the afternoon. I will not share the details anymore but it has something to do with the household angels (or lack of). I was hurt but will have to move on because they probably do not know what they’re saying. For who knows the truth? We, the ones left here, do.

Now I feel much better :)

p.s. Thanks Zanne! You know what for :)

Dark Clouds

The rains are here. It rains almost everyday, usually in the afternoon. Just today around 6pm, this is what you would see from our bedroom window:

dark clouds

The image does not give justice to what the naked eye could see. I used my mobile phone to take this shot, which explains the not so good quality. A lightning struck after I took this shot! Too bad, I was not ale to capture that. It was a worrisome sight, something that reminds me of that fateful morning Ondoy hit Metro Manila. Makes me think of those whose roofs are not sturdy enough to endure heavy rains and hard & fast winds. Makes me wish everyone lives in steel buildings that will definitely protect people, especially the elderly and the kids. But we all know not everyone is lucky.

Let’s all pray that the coming typhoons will spare us!

New Hair

On Saturday, Odie complimented my hair. She said that shorter hair fits me. Then I remembered that I have not shared my new do yet.

One day in July (about three weeks ago) my Mom called me and asked if I wanted to visit the salon with her. I was swamped with work that time but who would say no to free make-over, eh? So I finished what I could before she picked me up and packed Santino with me. Miss Pearl’s salon has free wifi, woohooo! Talk about mixing business with pleasure ;)

So I had a haircut, told Ms. P that I wanted it short (Mom was against it!), and had my hair colored with a shade of red. I also had a long-overdue pedicure. Tadah, me and my new hair:

Ms. P probably chopped off about 10 inches of hair! The ends used to reach the bra line at the back and if you know how thick my hair is, you’d agree how light my head felt after the session! My hair, of course, does not look as glorified as shown in the picture anymore but I like it still. It is the wash and wear kind of do which works for me :) I think I am going to keep it this way!

Today was a Long Day

I didn’t get enough sleep but I had to drag myself from bed this morning. We visited my in-laws and while there, we purged old clothes for the Catmon fire victims. Some pieces are going to my parents’ boy angel, Melvin though. After lunch, we were off to Makati. We were early for Leisha’s Mcdonald’s party in Glorietta because we also scheduled to have Klaire’s US visa application photo taken in a studio. Plus we didn’t have a gift yet for the birthday girl. The entire party, K didn’t want to be put down. Needless to say, my body was aching so bad by the time the party was over. I wanted to spend more time with Odie and Rissa but I just knew I had to rest already. Mommy duties weren’t over when we got home because of course I needed to clean the bottles and prepare K for bed after dinner. I was knocked out even before K was asleep! I dreamt of exit signs that I jolted from lalaland remembering that I still have work to do. And here I am trying to stay awake because of the online tasks lined up. Coffee, please rescue me!

Phone Pals

While spending QT with Klaire, she kept on putting my mobile near her ear, mumbling a bit then handing me the unit. I thought it was a sign that she was ready to “chat” with her mommy lola. So I sent my mom a message asking her to call me because K was waiting for her “phone pal” to call (my mom’s plan has unlimited calls, so I let her call us, LOL!).

And so my phone rang and their “session” started.

It was a one-way thing, though, because all K does is listen to her phone pal, LOL! She would smile, bright-eyed, and sometimes would respond but the conversations are almost always one way. I think K is amazed that the “phone” knows her and talks to her, hehe.

I am quite sure that K enjoys their sessions because she would cry when I take the phone from her or when my mom has already ran out of things to say. I can’t wait until K starts to really talk and engage in conversations. I wonder who between the phone pals will surrender first ;)

Mr. Plumber Please!

I think we’ll need the visit of Mr. Plumber pretty soon. The sink in the dirty kitchen got clogged up and no amount of liquid sosa can de-clog it. I always remind the angels to clear the plates, pans and pots before they wash them. Since they say they religiously do that, we’ll need someone to check the pipes underneath so we’ll know know the cause. Sigh. This is why in my dream kitchen, I want an Insinkerator installed to at least avoid clogging. Even if the dishes are cleared, stuff can still fall into the drain and this nifty tool can help.
